Friday night we had band practice.. no, we didn’t go out and have fun.. we had band practice, because we have no lives. haha.. actually, we had practice because we had a big show the next day!
Saturday night was our show at Fletchers in Fells Point. This was the second time we played there, and it was a blast! So many of my friends came, I was so happy to see all of them there. We had a turnout of 40 people to see us, plus all the others that were there for Velvet and Jepetto. We made $235!! The show had the biggest turnout/profit we’ve ever made! We played pretty well and the audience seemed to have a good time. The sound at Fletchers is the best out of any venues I’ve been to in Baltimore. We went over Steve’s afterwards for Jeff’s birthday party and spent the night there.
Ah, and that brings us to the special day of Sunday. In the morning we woke up to snow. Joe and I drove in our respective cars to guitar center to pickup a bass drum head for our recording session later in the day. The roads were bad. I slid down Steve’s driveway into the street a little but there weren’t any cars around so it was okay. Others weren’t so lucky - we passed at least 10 accidents on the way. About halfway to the 695 exit for guitar center, Joe calls me and tells me Steve got in an accident. So, I had to turn around and drive back to Owings Mills and take Steve to the studio.
When I made it back to Steve’s it was a mess… I parked in the neighborhood across from his, and waited for about an hour. He had slid down the same hill that I did, and some guy clipped the front of his car. No big deal.. the other guys car was almost completely undamaged and nobody was hurt. Steve’s front bumper kinda fell off, and he’s leaking antifreeze, but he doesn’t think it’s totaled. Well, the cop came and tried to help push Steve’s car up the hill and while they were doing this, not one, but two people hit the cop car. haha.. so all hell broke loose. They had to close the road and redirect traffic, and take pictures of all the cars and blah blah blah.. Steve was free to go by the time I got there, but he couldn’t get his car out of the way becuase of the new accidents.
When we all finally got to the studio it was about 3. We were supposed to be there at 12. The rest of the day wasn’t fine. We had fun recording.. it got frustrating at times, especially when we tried to figure out what to do with “Not the End.” It’s full of so many tempo changes that none of us knew what to do about a click track. Fortunately we figured it out, got a lot accomplished and got home safely.
And by home I mean to Katie’s house. We spent the night there because my parents were freaking out that I was driving in the snow. I didn’t get home until around 2:00 today, and I’ve been gone since 3 on Saturday morning. Ahh.. it’s nice to take a shower and change my clothes. =D
